Lily the Bernese Mountain dog is very proud of all of her heroes. These kids are really something - they are very active in their community and have learned the importance of giving. You can be one of Lily's Heroes too! Want to learn more or need some ideas? Click on "Become a Hero". Is one of your pals doing something really cool that helps people? Check out "Nominate a Kid". Lily hopes that kids (and parents) will be inspired by these stories. Many of these ideas can be copied and carried out right in your own neighborhood. Rianna Joy (9), MaryMargaret O'Neill (9), and Taylor Garner (10), pictured from left to right, did a wonderful thing. On June 14, 2008 they held a lemonade stand in front of a downtown Frederick store called Flights of Fancy. Selling lemonade for just $1.00 a cup, they were relentless in their salesmanship, sometimes yelling at people across the street to try and coax them to come over. Their hard work and determination paid off as they raised just over $300.00 in one day! With the proceeds they purchased enough Webkinz (80 in all) to give each camper at Camp Friendship, which is sponsored by the Carol Jean Cancer Foundation. These were delivered exactly one month later. This camp is designed for kids afflicted with cancer to enjoy some time outside like other children. Great job, girls!!
